She did draw a flurry of interest in March, when her name was floated as a possible replacement for Hope Hicks as communications director. The battle has been brutal. The ally of Schlapp's, Tony Sayegh, and another candidate for the position who is also named Tony began fighting in the news. Schlapp said to The Washington Examiner that she spoke with Sayegh about a recent negative article on him.
